The Village of Lockland Fire Department will be flushing fire hydrants over the following weeks. Fire hydrant flushing is an important part of our annual maintenance . There are two main reasons why hydrants are flushed. First, a fire hydrant is in essence a valve and to make sure they work when needed it is important to “exercise” a fire hydrant. Additionally hydrants are flushed to remove minerals deposits that may occur inside the water distribution pipes. Discolored water is frequently encountered during hydrant flushing. If you experience discolored water during this time, please flush your lines for a few minutes and it should clear up.
