Duke Energy is making upgrades to several electric poles on Shepherd Avenue and Smalley Road. In the next few weeks, you will see construction crews in the area performing these upgrades. Eight wood transmission poles will be replaced with steel, infrastructure equipment will be relocated, and one wood and stub pole will be removed. During construction, Duke Energy will establish work zones for the safety of their crews and the public. These will be located on Cavett Avenue, Smalley Road and Columbia Avenue. Road signage will be placed in advance of restrictions. The estimated date the pole construction completion is June 2023. Upon completion, they will work to restore the work area as closely as possible to its original condition. Please note that schedules can shift due to contract or resource availability.
