The Lockland Fire Department was established in 1894. Since that time the organization has grown from a group of dedicated volunteers utilizing horse-drawn equipment to a full service staffed fire department with state-of-the-art fire and emergency medical equipment. The Fire Department utilizes paid on station personnel to respond to the emergency services needs of the community twenty-four hours a day. The on station personnel are supported by a dedicated group of volunteers (paid per call members) who respond to larger scale and concurrent incidents. Lockland was one of the first fire departments in the Greater Cincinnati area to achieve an ISO 4 Rating, three decades ago. Today the Department provides Paramedic Level emergency medical services and utilizes the following equipment:
- 2 Engines (Pumpers)
- 1 75 foot Quint (Combination Ladder Truck & Engine)
- 1 Paramedic Ambulance
- 2 Command Vehicles & 1 Support Vehicle
Additional equipment and personnel are available from surrounding communities utilizing a regional mutual aid agreement, which includes specialized units such as the Greater Cincinnati Hazardous Material Unit, the Hamilton County Urban Search and Rescue Team, and the Specialized County Fire Investigation Team.
